🔥Structuring your workout program🔥

Every workout program needs structure. In the exercises you choose, the reps you perform, the weight you use, your program needs structure. Periodization is essentially having a plan and a structure to reach a defined goal and doing so by scheduling periods dedicated to specific fitness components. There are three very common ways to periodize a program for the basic components of strength: hypertrophy, power, and strength itself. Linear periodization is the most common and generally is when we have a period, known as a mesocycle that lasts about 4-6 weeks, of hypertrophy training followed by a period of strength and then a period of power training. Another popular one is weekly undulating where we take those same three components and make them weekly blocks where one week is focused on hypertrophy, the next on strength and then power. Lastly, we have a very popular Westside Barbell method which is daily changes in focus. The way it works is having max effort upper body and lower body days which each focus on a main lift and then upper body and lower body power days known as dynamic effort days and again both have a main lift of focus. Hypertrophy training, known as the repetition method, happens after the main lifts each workout day.

Is direct arm training necessary? 🤔💪

My journey to getting lean 
Week Four @fighterdiet Military Challenge Beginner mode. 
Just when I thought the previous week was tough and gruelling then this week, week Four just took it up to another level and it had me pushing and working harder and harder than ever and this is what I love that everyday, every week, every set, every rep is a challenge to me and I’m giving it everything I have and so much more because I want this more than I say I do and nothing will stop me or take my focus away from my goals.

Week Four is another full body workout and here is an exercise from that workout: 💪Standing Bilateral Dumbbell Shoulder Press

I have not done standing shoulder press before but after doing this for eacf set I started to enjoy it as it allowed me to focus on a few things:
🙏Movement 🙏Core Control
🙏No Swinging 
I know I need to lose the belt which I am working on slowly and slowly but I’m in no rush as all good things happen in great timing.
As you can see the last few reps is where I struggled with which I needed to push more to get the reps out and that’s what it’s about and the increase in weight will come.

Here’s a short, but incredibly effective workout that you can do at home or the gym using an @ultimatesandbag .
You will superset these two exercises:
.
✅DVRT Lateral Bag Drag/ Banded Bird Dog and the ✅DVRT Clean To Fist.
.
Perform 5 Rounds back to back, 10 reps each, rest as needed.
.
Here are the workout details.
.
DVRT Lateral Bag Drag/ Banded Bird Dog
.
The primary focus of this exercise is to build Core + Shoulders Stability while activating your Lats and Glutes.
.
Begin on your hands and knees with a Mini Band placed around the arches of your feet and the sandbag on one side of your body.
-
Lift the opposite hand to the bag, and reach under your body to grab the end handle.
-
Slowly drag the bag under the body while simultaneously pushing the opposite foot back into a Bird Dog position.
.
Lower your leg and repeat the exercise for the other side.
.
DVRT Clean to Fist.
.
This exercise will build strength in your Shoulders, Back, Glutes and Hamstrings.
.
Begin with the sandbag close to the shins.
.
Hinge at the hips to grab the parallel handles on the bag and explosively lift the sandbag by driving through your feet and thrusting your hips forward while pulling the handles apart with elbows outward.
.
You’ll scoop your arms underneath to catch the sandbag on your fists, so there should be no impact of the bag on the chest.
.
Next, lower the sandbag back to the start position. 💥Do not let it plop to waist level.
.
Stay focused on correct form and you’ll burn fat and build functional muscle while keeping your joints healthy.

This little pipsqueak was found so
undernourished that her little legs
were deformed + has to be fixed in
plaster as they couldn’t support her little body.

and
her treatment was sponsored by
our gorgeous friends Kat + Jamie

as they live in Singapore,

space to heal, grow + be loved 🌱
She is now thriving in her new home
with lots of hugs + play time
with her new big sis Sunny 🐶 🐶

Some days I feel like I can't keep up with the over 50,000 Instagram followers and take care of the social media end of things, but it is those people who message me to say that they've started exercising because of me that puts a huge smile on my face and warmth in my heart.

And... When I feel like I need to step back and just hang with my boys, I do just that. It's about balance my friends 💟

I think it’s so important to embrace yourself fully, even the parts of you you don’t necessarily like- and I’m of the opinion that it’s OKAY to not like every aspect of who you are physically or mentally. That being said- I do think that if you have the power to change something you don’t like about yourself- then you should or you have no right to complain about it.

I think it’s okay to appreciate and love your body exactly as it is, while still wanting to improve yourself for WHATEVER reasons you wish- so long as they aren’t to fit someone else’s ideal of what you should or shouldn’t be or look like.

If you want to lose weight to feel and look good? Then good for you! If you don’t care about losing weight but want to focus on just being healthier overall- then by all means do it!

All I ask of you- is to not let someone else dictate to you- whether it’s a friends, spouse the media in all its forms etc- what you should do or look like, how you should look or go about your journey.

It’s your journey- no one else’s. Just embark on this journey in a smart way- research- ask questions- don’t be afraid to ask the opinions of others but take them for what they’re worth and for the experience level and expertise behind them.

At the end of the day- it’s your life, your body, your journey- the only common denominator there is YOU. Go figure.
