1️⃣ What has been your proudest moment and why? ✨ I don’t have a particular moment, per se. Although I have areas in my life where I noticed the most growth. I decided a few years back that I wasn’t going to doubt myself anymore. I was extremely self conscious about my body and my worthiness as a person overall. Because of my faith and persistence in what I’m doing now, I just don’t struggle with that anymore. .

2️⃣ What are your goals for the rest of the year? ✨ I have a few big ones in mind and I’ve shared them briefly on my stories. I’m trying to finish my nutrition certification ASAP! It’s honestly taking a lot longer than I expected 😭 I’m also working on a first author publication for my research - it probably won’t get published by the end of the year but it will get written! ☝🏽

3️⃣ Does your SO and workout and eat like you do? If not, how do you plan around that? ✨ He accompanies me to the gym once to twice per week, and he usually eats what I eat (esp since we split the grocery bill hehe)! When I meal prep, I meal prep for him too! He realizes health is important, but building muscle isn’t a priority for him. He has his own projects that he works on, and I respect that. We both work independently on our own goals, but we also make time to appreciate what the other is doing, as well. ❤️

This Banded Side Shuffle in the first video will fire up your glutes.  The key to this exercise is to keep your feet apart & the band tight.  I do this with the band around my ankles. You can raise the band to above your knees if necessary.  Holding weights adds a challenge to this exercise🔥

Recently, I’ve changed my tune on weight. Let me explain why 👇🏻⠀
∙⠀
On both ends of the spectrum, I think we’ve given weight too much power. And it’s understandable. As Americans, our culture is steeped in rhetoric about our weight (for a ton of different reasons).⠀
∙⠀
For basically my entire life, I’ve been on either end of the spectrum with my opinion on weight. I’ve obsessed over it and tried to achieve the smallest # possible, and I’ve completely disregarded it and decided it’s entirely unimportant.⠀
∙⠀
Now, I’ve realized I don’t agree with either approach.⠀
∙⠀
I get why we would want to (🙋🏼‍♀️I did) ignore it and remove it completely from the discussion  of health - it’s been on way too high of a pedestal, and for some it may bring up past trauma.⠀
∙⠀
Weight is not, by any means, the only determinant of health. It is certainly not the determinant of your worth & ability to love yourself as a human being. As a country, we would do a lot better to focus more on healthy behaviors than we do weight. But weight does matter. It is tied to health. Let’s not give it so much power that we either obsess over it and let it define us or avoid it like the plague and resent anyone who says it’s anything more than unimportant.⠀

You DO NOT have to focus on weight if you don’t want to, but know that it is possible to acknowledge it’s value and use it as one of many data points without detriment to one’s mental health.⠀

I am so very self conscious about my belly... Postpartum or not, it really bothers me.

With so many physical limitations I am currently dealing with, my high intensity sessions are few and far between. Therefore getting resistance training sessions in and keeping my nutrition on track are even more important.

ESPECIALLY my post workout nutrition.

You see muscle is necessary to burn fat. Resistance training is necessary to build muscle. And proper post workout nutrition is vital to repairing muscle tissue damaged during resistance training.

The post workout window is the only time a supplement trumps a whole food, as long as it's the right supplement.

A fast digesting protein like a hydrolyzed whey isolate, AND a high glycemic carbohydrate like a pure dexanhydros glucose will provide the fastest recovery possible post workout.

The Dumbbell Donkey Kick is a 
Brazilian favourite for isolating the glutes! So here’s how to do it: -

1. Get on all fours on top of your mat. 
2. Place a dumbbell at the crease of your right knee. 
2. Keep your right knee bent at 90 degrees as you lift your leg into the air until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knee, your right toe kicking toward the ceiling.
3. Reverse the movement to return to start. That's one rep.
4. Complete 12-15 reps on each side for four to five rounds. -

It's important to make sure you’re really squeezing your butt at the highest point. So start light get used to getting a good squeeze and slowly increase the weight you use 🍑🇧🇷🍑🇧🇷🍑
