The body uses glucose (carbs) as the easiest fuel source pre-workout! 🍌 No point eating a tonne of protein or fat pre-workout as why would you want to make your body work harder to use energy? You feeling me? 💃🏼 Let’s work smarter not harder guys 👊🏼

You’ll notice the types of carbs that are the best sources are ‘quick’ energy carbs. Ones we don’t normally recommend like honey, white bread & lollies. Fat & fibre slow down the digestion of carbs so you don’t want anything high in fibre or fat pre-workout as it’ll delay your body being able to use the carbs. Your best choices as a quick pre-workout (particularly first thing in the morning) are in this picture so make sure you save it 🤩

The timing of your carb choice matters too. If your workout is within 15-20 mins, have a small carb serve like a few sips of juice, a date, 1/2 banana, a rice cake with honey or a few dried apricots. If you have 1-2 hours before your session, you can add some protein too & have a yoghurt with muesli, PB on toast or a fruit smoothie. -
My go-to pre-workout is 1 medjool date + 1/2 coffee for an upper body workout & 1 date, 2 lollies & a whole coffee for leg day 😈 I never workout fasted as I’m pushing for results in the gym & you can’t chase results when your tank is empty 🤓

I Remember when I wasn’t losing weight I would tell myself I wasn’t eating a lot. I would get so frustrated that I started to tell myself that I had a slow metabolism; i got discouraged and would get frustrated. -

After taking a step back and looking at my eating habits I was so so wrong. I would easily consume 1,500 calories in a single meal and tell myself nothing. Because I wasn’t tracking and I didn’t understand what foods had what calories. -

Like anything it’s an education process. There’s a learning curve and even though you feel like you’ve done everything. Trust me, you haven’t. -

I would always recommend to start off tracking your calories, using a food journal and looking back at meals to learn what calories really look like. You don’t have to live your life like this always. But it’s a great start to a fitness journey. -

The more I began to track and actually be in a calorie deficit, I started losing weight. What a crazy concept. You don’t NEED to be in a ketogenic state, swear off carbs, swear off all Meat, vilify fat, or use supplements to get you to lose weight. If it helps you stay in a caloric deficit then by all means, do you! There’s more than one way to do something. As long as you follow the science and adhere to whatever you are doing you are golden. So if you are having trouble losing weight. Try tracking a week of eating and really see if you’re in a caloric deficit or not. Stay hungry fam! 💪🏽

Starting the day off outdoors and getting my 1 hour of movement in #ElevateU ✨ walking and hiking always helps clear my head. Today I was thinking how important it is to surround yourself with people and places that make you feel inspired and lifted.⁣⁣

Do you ever feel like when you look at your life and who/what is surrounding it that it is not helping you grow in any way, shape, or form? ⁣⁣

Lately, I have had absolutely zero tolerance letting people back into my life that make me feel yuck or have a toxic lifestyle. I feel like I am at the point in my life where it is CRUCIAL with who and what I allow my energy to go to. Everything we see, hear, think, talk about etc makes an impact on us as individuals. The energy we have each day is so precious!! And we only have so much of it.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Trust me, I know how hard it is to let go of a certain lifestyle or relationship that doesn’t help you grow or make you feel happy anymore. But once you look back you will realize just how important that decision was for your life. Surrounding yourself with positivity, good energy, laughter, ambition, similar values, all makes a big difference in your life. I still struggle with this every single day!!! But then I realize that God’s path for our lives is more meaningful than we know, we just have to be open to pursuing it ❤️

"THERE’S NO BEFORE AND AFTER. IT’S ALL JUST DURING.

To be clear -- there's nothing wrong with taking pictures to see how nutrition or exercise is affecting your body it if that’s your goal

To be candid, it can be a useful tool to see what's going on with your body.

What’s problematic for me is viewing those pictures as: 🚫 a before + after
🚫 an end point
🚫 a panacea where the AFTER is the life and body of my dreams and everything is perfect, I am still on the journey. It never ends.

That's not how it works.

There’s no after.
There's just during.

Yes my life is better and happier now, but it's not because I've achieved some "after" body.

Quite the opposite. It's because ❤️ My worth is no longer attached to my body.
❤️ I’m healing my relationship with food and my body.
❤️ I eat and exercise in a way I enjoy so I can sustain it.
❤️ I feel strong and capable and confident and powerful.
❤️ I’m no longer on the diet and exercise roller coaster.
❤️ And if I ever decide to change my body (like right now I'm gaining as much muscle as possible!) I know how to do it.

And it's not stressful. It feels exciting, fun, and nourishing, not punishing.

THIS is my "during," and it's better than any "after" I ever imagined because it's real and sustainable.
