The triceps are not frequently thought of as shoulder stabilizers, but in my opinion every muscle that attaches to the scapulae (i.e., shoulder blades) has an effect on stabilizing the shoulder in some way. And being a swimmer shoulder stability is essential if you want to avoid injuries.

I am the WORST for this☝️seriously ask my husband 🤣 ⠀⠀
This post is 💯 for ME, and if I need to hear it, I’m guessing some of you might need to hear it too!
⠀⠀
I am always looking so far ahead that I often miss the now. And let me tell you, living in panic that I’m not where I’m supposed to be yet or comparing myself to someone else does NOTHING for my journey (or help me get there any faster for that matter). I rarely celebrate the little wins in my life and I very often get discouraged by my current short comings. That’s right, little miss ray of sunshine over here sure can throw herself a pity party when she feels like it!
⠀⠀
So much that it brings me anxiety and doubt that I’m too far behind, and I’ll never accomplish the things I dream about. That even though the clock is ticking I’m not moving an inch. Sometimes I even convince myself I’m moving backwards 🤦‍♀️
⠀⠀
But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Every day I try to pour myself (even if it’s just a little bit) into what I want for myself, my family and my future.
⠀⠀
And as much is it drives me nuts, I KNOW that Rome was not built in a day. Or a year. Or a decade! Hell, last time I checked Rome was STILL growing and evolving...
⠀⠀
And guess what, so am I and so are YOU!! ⠀⠀
Be proud of where you are today, as much as you will be five years from now, because it’s all a process. Sometimes it can be painfully long and I’m sure it will drive us all mad at some point, but when you stop thinking about what’s next, you can fully appreciate RIGHT NOW. ⠀⠀
So whatever that thing is you’ve been striving for, even if it’s not remotely close to where you want it to be just yet, give yourself some props today!

Many students have a hard time keeping their sagittal alignment during exercises like Footwork on the Chair. Sometimes, limiting the motion to a range that the student can control makes all the difference in keeping good alignment. 
In this case, a Pedal stopper can come to the rescue! Don't have a pedal stopper? You're out of luck! Just kidding... a Yoga Block or a Moonbox also works really well.

We will focus on Seeing, Cueing and Partnering skills. We will also discuss modifications, variations and contraindication for specific populations. ⠀

The Refinement and Mastery Weekend (September 27th, 28th, 29th) will cover The Intermediate Repertoire on all equipment and will be taught by Carol LeMaitre. The Advanced and Super Advanced Weekend (October 11th, 12th, 13th) will be taught by Sharon Gallagher-Rivera. ⠀

At the completion of either weekend, you will receive 18 PMA CECs (36 for both weekends). Attend either or both weekends for $900 per weekend ($1,800 for both). Fridays and Saturdays 11:00am to 6:00pm, and Sundays 9:30am to 4:30pm. ⠀

Forgot my hair bobble for the gym today so it's a total riot. Trained back and managed 160kg rack pulls followed by a whole load of super and triple sets to trim this body down.

Let’s talk about sleep!! Something I’ve struggled with ever since I can remember is sleep. It makes me anxious when I can’t fall asleep or when I don’t get enough of it. Not gonna lie I do take sleeping pills around once a week when I’m struggling or switching from nights to days (life of a shift worker lolz). But I am trying to rely less and less on them and make sleep hygiene more of a priority!!⁣⁣⁣

Sleep hygiene basically means creating healthy sleep habits and a routine for yourself before bed to encourage a more restful sleep. Sleep is SO important, it can help improve your mood and memory, weight control (balances hormones), improve your performance at the gym and overall better quality of life. I have a few tips for you guys to improve your sleep hygiene!!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨avoid stimulants like caffeine at least 4 hours before bedtime⁣⁣⁣
✨establish a bedtime routine (i.e. a warm bath, read a book, aromatherapy, meditate)⁣⁣⁣
✨create a relaxing sleep environment (cool temperature, dark and quiet, white noise, low lights)⁣⁣⁣
✨limit your cellphone/laptop/tv usage 1 hour before bed (I suck at this one 🙃)⁣⁣⁣
✨TRY to go to bed at the same time every night⁣⁣⁣
✨avoid naps during the day⁣⁣
✨if you can’t sleep or wake up in the middle of the night, don’t panic, just do a relaxing activity (like reading) until you are tired enough to sleep⁣⁣
✨try a weighted blanket!! (I luv mine)⁣

Today the sleep (or lack there of) caught up with me. I set out with the boys and 2 miles in I stopped. Heavy legs, I felt like I was slogging through, and so so tired. 💤 .

Don’t underestimate the impact sleep can have on your running and recovery! If you aren’t getting enough sleep chances are your body will take longer to recover from workouts and runs! .

Instead of adding in another 2-4 miles I just stopped, let E play at the playground close by, and just enjoyed being outside with my boys 💙💙 Ready to rest up my body to run and enjoy Hilton Head with @runningwithcadence and her sweet family!

Day 59: My thighs were sore today after yesterday's leg workout. I attended karate class today and also did some more work after class in dojo.

Food: For breakfast I had ata rotis(two I think) and beef pieces. Later at day I had toast, butter, peanut butter, sugar and a bit of nutella. Then I had green tea and lemon with lime a bit later. At night I had parata, white rice, lentil soup, chicken roast(leg and thigh), beef, and snake gourd with egg. I had milk and sugar a bit later. I also had sweets after 12am but I'll include them in today's meals.

I have zero jumping skills whatsoever. 😂 That’s actually part of why I like this photo. It reminds me that even with something I know I’m not good at, that I still make an effort. That regardless of how I’m feeling about it, I will still try instead of hold myself back from ever improving. •

That’s how growth happens. I want to be better, stronger, healthier, kinder, and a whole list of other things. But, I’ll never be able to improve if I don’t put myself in a situation to be challenged by them and potentially fail. •

I’ve created a new motto for myself recently and it was to find things to fail at. It helps reduce the fear of failure and it’s actually pretty fun. Next up is taking dance classes ( which I know I’ll fail at), but facing the discomfort of being new and making mistakes in a room full of people, will help me in other areas of my life, especially with business and relationships. •

I’m excited to fail 😂 Never said those words before. What can you fail at that will help you grow?

It never feels like work and I love the relationship I get to build with so many different women. Everyone’s journey is so different, goals are different, lives are significantly different, but for the 30-60 minutes they are with me they are all focused and dedicated.
