When I decided to start the preparation of the NPC Nationals bodybuilding competition in March 2020 in Tampa Bay, Florida, I did it to challenge myself, to see if I can stay disciplined and focused while life happens.. Happy #humpday 馃枛馃徏 I have been battling lack of motivation for awhile now.  Finally, I have trudged through enough bull crap and I am to the point where I am motivated again.  What鈥檚 important is that I stayed the course and worked HARD, even though I didn鈥檛 want to. 
I feel like it鈥檚 super important to talk about this because I know I鈥檓 not the only one who goes through periods of lack of motivation.  That鈥檚 why it鈥檚 powerful for us to switch our mindset from #motivation to #discipline.  You stay the course, even if you don鈥檛 necessarily want to.  This brings me to my favorite bible verse. 
Hebrews 12:11 鈥淣o discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.鈥
This speaks #VOLUMES to me in every aspect of my life. 鈥 building my relationship with God
鈥 nourishing my marriage
鈥 exercising and eating right
鈥 practicing mindfulness
鈥 the list goes on... The takeaway here, though, is that even if you don鈥檛 feel like it, you should still do it.  It may be the most difficult thing your up against in that point of time, but that鈥檚 what makes you stronger.  That鈥檚 what helps you #grow as a human being!  Face the challenge with a smile and don鈥檛 let anything or anyone knock you off your path.  Stay the course.

Quick 20ish minute core and cardio DO ANYWHERE workout! .
3-4 SETS 
1锔忊儯 Scissor Lunge Jumps x 24
2锔忊儯 Not sure what to call these, but do 15 (20 if you wanna push yourself!)
3锔忊儯 Plank alt. Knee to elbow x 30
4锔忊儯 Elbow Plank 30 seconds 
5锔忊儯 Burpees x 12 (really use your core to pull your legs out/in)
6锔忊儯 Reverse Alt. Crunch Knee to Chest x 20

This workout had my abs dying by the end. I don鈥檛 usually do workouts like this that are so core focused but instead typically only incorporate 5-10 minutes of ab exercises a couple times a week at the end of my workout.. so this was a good change up for an active rest day!

Give this one a save for later next time you need a quick and efficient workout knocking out abs and cardio. I followed this workout with a 30 minute walk to get my steps in 馃

Weight lifting has granted me more confidence, better results, and a healthier balance to my fitness life than I ever thought possible! I no longer fret over getting enough cardio in to 鈥渂urn more calories.鈥 This, although it is difficult to admit, was a captive thought of mine for a long time. Weight lifting (along with letting go of other unhealthy thoughts/ perspectives around food and image and working through these things mentally/ emotionally) has allowed me to truly break free of that, and to give my body the things it NEEDS, like building muscle, developing strength, and providing it with the nutrients and foods needed to continue performing well in and out of the gym.

If you are new to weight lifting or simply interested in trying it out, feel free to follow me along here as I share my day to day workouts and personal health and fitness journey. 鉁≒lan & organize better 鈥 I always work better when I have a set schedule & a set list of things I have to get done in a day written down, yet I always fail to actually plan out my days fully either at the beginning of the week or the night before the next day. Things like meal planning, workouts, certain tasks I need to finish in a day, & soon school will have to be a huge priority so I need to be able to plan that & everything else around it. PRO TIP: get a day planner! .
鉁 Discipline in the gym & kitchen 鈥 Now I鈥檓 not saying I鈥檝e been completely disregarding these but I haven鈥檛 been putting the effort in that I know I CAN & NEED to be, so I am making a stronger effort to be eating more whole, natural foods & getting my booty to the gym 5-6 days a week & really crushing my workouts. Discipline over motivation馃攽. .
鉁 Don鈥檛 give up 鈥 I鈥檓 always quick to think or jump to far ahead & it leads me to getting extremely down on myself or giving up at times, because I鈥檓 not getting the outcome that I want right away. Learning & continuously reminding myself that most, if not all things take time, is a very important aspect in my life in order to continuously grow as a person!馃挍

Sometimes finding the motivation can actually feel like the hardest part about 鈥榳orking out鈥. But, I have secret 馃か.... it鈥檚 not actually motivation that gets the job done - it鈥檚 all about COMMITMENT, DISCIPLINE and FOCUS.

Think of 鈥榳orking out鈥 like washing your hair - you can鈥檛 really be bothered, but you know you need to... but once it鈥檚 done you feel so much better, right!

So, FOCUS on the way you feel AFTER working out, COMMIT to a regular workout schedule, and through DISCIPLINE.... fitness will start to feel just as NECESSARY as washing your hair 馃榿 #bouncefitbody #bouncearmy #bounceinstructor #fitnessdiscipline #fitnessfocus #minitrampolineworkout #reboundingfitness

Motivation thursday
This is from melbourne marathon two year's back. For me fitness is like a regular part of my life like brushing, bathing, eating, sleeping.  I love the endorphins kick which otherwise is also called the happy hormones. I workout 5 to 6 days a week not more than 45 mins unless its a long run day. I do 3 run sessions and 2 strength sessions per week. I keep 1 day as a stretching session and a rest day. I love food and catching up with freinds so i do eat out most of my lunch time. But when i order from the menu I am quiet mindfull of what I am ordering and choose the best I can.  I stay away from gluten, dairy and sugar completely as they flare up my skin and i get  bloating.  But i do break this rule on special occasions by having a piece of cake or an icecream or bread. I have been doing this for the past 9 years and it never felt hard or giving up as i have never beleived in a quick fix or any fad diets. I just took one day at a time , believed in the process and learnt every step.

Have you ever felt like you were in a room without seeing anything, no doors, no windows, everything dark around you, feeling that there is no way out?
The more you stay there in this room the more you feel overwhelmed, small in that situation.
Usually we stay in the same place because we are waiting to find the door, and because I do not see the door, I do not walk, I stand there.  But often, I don't see the door because I don't walk!

Have you heard of the power of the small victory?
It is the power that you have to take a small step in any direction to get out of a certain situation. Imagine you are in that same dark room and you take a small step to the side. Now you are no longer in the same place and your viewing angle has changed. From this new angle you can finally see a door! 
When you change your angle of view, it is often there that you will find the way out of what you want for your life.

So what's the small step you can take today in your life to start seeing the exit door?

I told myself to leave the belt and knee wraps at home. Don鈥檛 put anything on a bar or machine that requires either but push yourself. I think I got to 65-70% of my potential highest intensity level. I鈥檓 not really training to do anything at the moment other than maintain what I have. Hypertrophy phases will be programmed down the line when conditions are favorable; that time is not now. Training is for fun, out of habit and to maintain not looking like a pale full of crap next to my wife, @lifestyle_by_hp That鈥檚 the least I can do for the poor woman. 鉅鉅

Here 鈥榮 what you need to prioritize (in order of importance for fat loss): .
1.Calorie Deficit: Eating less calories than your body needs is the only way to lose fat
2.Eating Enough Protein: to maintain muscle mass when you鈥檙e dieting (so you get toned and don鈥檛 turn 鈥渟kinny fat鈥) and to recover from workouts
3.Lift Weights: 2-5 x a week! (3-4 is a sweet spot for most people)
4.10k steps / day!
5.Move!! Finding active hobbies you enjoy will keep you consistent and make it a lot more fun.
6.Patience & Positivity: cause life is crazy & things take a hell of a lot longer than you want them to.

There are lots of ways to increase the difficulty of an exercise & this can be particularly helpful if you are working out with limited equipment or need to switch things up.

馃搱More Reps/Sets: more total volume

鈴盌ecreased Rest: apply more muscular force over a time period which will improve your conditioning & cardio abilities.

馃Stronger Mindset/Mental Game: this one is huge! going into your workouts with increased confidence in your strength & abilities will help you tackle workouts.

馃ΦIncreased Range of Motion(ROM) & Flexibility: more muscular damage leading to higher rates of hypertrophy (muscle growth).

鈱涳笍Tempo: slowing down the motion of any movement pattern, your form, & increases fatigue as the set progresses. I prefer to intergrate a 3-4 second eccentric (lowering portion) when adjusting the tempo.

I wanted a full upper body workout with some cardio added in because I didn鈥檛 have time to add it in after my lift, so came up with this, and my arms are feeling it today after this fat burning, lean muscle building workout馃憣馃徎馃敟

4 SETS: minimal to no breaks unless needed!
1锔忊儯 KB swings x 15
2锔忊儯 Bicep Curls w. Slow count release x 10 
3锔忊儯 Burpees w. Push-up x 10, plus 5 regular to finish
4锔忊儯 Lateral Raises x 10
5锔忊儯 Tricep Extensions x 10
6锔忊儯 Ball Slams x 20

Definitely give this one a save for your next arm/ HIIT focused day! Knock out a great arm lift with some solid high intensity cardio mixed in. .
