Visiting a classic combo with Teo Gelato’s Cookies and Cream. I’ve had their Italian Peanut Butter Cup and was impressed, so I was interested to see how this one fared.
The base was really high quality, a nice creamy base that carried the characteristic density of a gelato, which tend to be smoother due to the lower overrun (air whipped in to the base) than ice cream. What I really liked here was that the base did not just taste like vanilla but rather perfectly captured the flavor of milk that you’ve been dipping Oreos in. It’s a nice sweet flavor but not too sweet, and I could have told you it was cookies and cream before I hit the first mix in.
The mix ins are your classic chocolate sandwich cookies, and while they aren’t loaded, I was satisfied with the amount. The size varied from larger chunks to small pieces, and they were soft but not soggy from the ice cream. While I could have gone for a little higher quantity of mix ins, the high quality of the base made them not as necessary.
Overall this was a really solid pint of Cookies and Cream. Teo continues to deliver extremely high quality bases that provide a smooth and rich texture with a strong punch of flavor. The base really carried the pint here, which is a rarity on grocery store shelves. They also have a version of this flavor with a coffee base, which I bet would be awesome for those of you who like that flavor!
Would I scoop this again? It’s not my first choice since it’s a somewhat basic flavor, but I would. I’ll definitely try their other flavors.
