It’s recovery day so that means a 2K walk, 2K light run and 500m swim. First time back in the pool since my rib injury, still sore but feels much better stretching out the muscles with the breaststroke. It also marks my 3rd week in a row where I’ve hit my exercise goal everyday single day! Lots to be proud of this month, looking forward to next months challenges.

This is reality. On social media we often get unrealistic expectations for ourselves because everyone posts pictures of themselves at their best. So this morning I decided to post a real picture of what my Sunday mornings look like. Towel on head, no makeup, enjoying my coffee with sugar free French vanilla creamer (2sp). This is 90% of how my life is...relaxed. So when you are getting down on yourself because you don’t look like other people you see in posts, remember that everyone looks like this at some point. •

The thyroid hormone plays an important role in metabolic function.  When someone is trying to lose weight, the first thing they typically do is reduce caloric intake.  Unfortunately studies find dieting reduces metabolism by as much as 25%. This completely defeats the goal of weight loss. 🤦‍♀️

Another thing I see that happens a lot when people calorie restrict.....they eat less carbs. In a sense, this diet will mimic fasting since calories are reduced. This can increase cortisol and suppress thyroid conversion. Again, this doesn’t help with weight loss. 🤷‍♀️

The big picture here is that the last thing you should do is go on a dieting frenzy with calorie restriction if you know your thyroid isn’t acting at an optimal level. And if you suspect you have a thyroid issue, reach out to me!  We can dig deeper! 🙋‍♀️

•Body (outside): healthier hair/skin/nails, brighter eyes, clothes fitting better.

There are several restaurants near me that offer spring rolls and I love them.  I will be honest, I haven’t attempted making them at home b/c they are just so darn cheap out to eat!

Many times you will find that they are advertised with meat, but you can make a quick switch to tofu (if it isn't already advertised) super easily! 
Don't get these confused with summer rolls, which are deep fried.  They are both great, but just know there are two different types of rolls when you are ordering!

There are several restaurants near me that offer spring rolls and I love them. I will be honest, I haven’t attempted making them at home b/c they are just so darn cheap out to eat!

Many times you will find that they are advertised with meat, but you can make a quick switch to tofu (if it isn't already advertised) super easily!
Don't get these confused with summer rolls, which are deep fried. They are both great, but just know there are two different types of rolls when you are ordering!

Wow! What a freakin’ horrendous week it’s been. Complete set-back, health wise and I’m not completely sure how or why. I’ve barely left the house since Monday, had to cancel a hospital follow-up and gym induction and almost had to crawl on all 4s to my doc appt. Now on 4th attempt at stronger painkillers, have pimped my crutches (as I’ll seemingly be using them more) and fatigue has kicked in amazingly well. 😒 Not quite the cocktail I’d want of a weekend!
