When I share information it will always be backed by scientific research and evidence. I am a firm believer in promoting treatment methods that are backed by science.

I also believe that nature is full of remedies that help deal with this chronic illness. Fenugreek seeds are one such therapeutic gem found in nature. Growing up I have always had these in my kitchen cupboard with my mum using them in a lot of her recipes. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with PCOS that I discovered their benefits.

All these benefits have been proven through clinical trials. In one clinical trial 94% of women who took fenugreek seeds found improvement in their PCOS symptoms. Almost all had cyst size significantly reduced or cysts were completely gone by the end of the trial. Additionally 10% of these women fell pregnant.

HOW TO TAKE: Soak seeds overnight and take a teaspoon with every meal.

Problems with The Pill Part 1
Birth control pills (aka the pill) are a commonly used medication amongst women. Whether it be for a form of contraception or to treat hormonal symptoms such as PMS, heavy periods or hormonal acne, over 100 million women worldwide are using the pill. 
Unfortunately, many women are prescribed the pill without being told about the potential ramifications on their body & hormones. In this series, we’re going to look at some of the consequences that arise from the use of the pill so that you can make an informed choice about whether it’s right for you
1. Gut Dysfunction. Birth control pills have antibiotic activity. As a result of this, the pill disrupts your normal gut flora, reduces the diversity of your microbiome, and produces an environment that allows for overgrowth of the more harmful bacteria & yeast. 
Further to this, the pill also impairs your gut integrity. The pill creates increased levels of inflammation within the body that can lead to the development of intestinal hyperpermeability (IHP) or ‘leaky gut’. IHP is a condition in which the tight junctions between the cells of the intestinal lining are compromised. These junctions regulate what is allowed in & out of the intestinal wall. 
The gut is naturally permeable to very small molecules so that the body can absorb the nutrients it needs. When you use the pill however, the tight junctions become looser. This allows larger proteins, and molecules from food, bacteria, yeast & other organisms to get through the intestinal lining. These larger particles make their way into the bloodstream where they shouldn’t be. This sets off your immune system & instigates an inflammatory response. 
As a result, you can get a range of uncomfortable digestive & systemic symptoms. Perhaps more importantly however, you are at a higher risk of developing food sensitivities, immune disorders such as autoimmune conditions & other chronic inflammatory diseases.

#Friyay 🎉 It’s the end of another FULL ON week - between my patients and the practice, quality time at home with hubby and the 🐕 🐕, going live with #hormonalmastery (thanks @kalesbroccoli 🙌🏼), AND everything else in between - safe to say I will be putting my FEET UP this weekend🦶🏼🦶🏼& practising some much needed #selfcare 💆🏻‍♀️ ...As women, we are often last to put ourselves FIRST, which in effect is detrimental not only to us - but also to the ones we are so busily trying to support. Think of it like this... ✈️ when the flight attendant is giving her safety speech before take-off, what does she say to do in case of emergency?🚨 👩‍✈️....to get YOUR own oxygen mask on BEFORE trying to help others.

Self-care rituals should have an important place in your week.✨✨Self-care is a way of attending to the foundations of your very being and helps you to keep yourself strong.✨✨Self-care means something different for every single person.

To ME, self-care means being honest with myself, knowing when to say no, seeking out solutions to my stresses rather than avoiding them...
It means making space for my #dailyrituals and keeping to my positive ‘habits’. ⚡️⚡️It also means creating new habits to get myself back on track if I feel the wheels beginning to spin off.
It means that I make sure to prioritise ‘me-time’... to take some ‘time-out’, to do some calming #meditation🙇🏻‍♀️, spend time with my family, or to bundle up with a stack of research papers and have some uninterrupted ‘nerd-out’ time.📑🤓
It is about having a positive mindset, getting enough SLEEP💤, moving my body, taking CARE of my physical and mental health.. 🥦🥑🍠it’s also about eating WELL to support the natural cycles of my body and my overall #health and #harmony.

#Friyay 🎉 It’s the end of another FULL ON week - between my patients and the practice, quality time at home with hubby and the 🐕 🐕, going live with #hormonalmastery (thanks @kalesbroccoli 🙌🏼), AND everything else in between - safe to say I will be putting my FEET UP this weekend🦶🏼🦶🏼& practising some much needed #selfcare 💆🏻‍♀️ ...As women, we are often last to put ourselves FIRST, which in effect is detrimental not only to us - but also to the ones we are so busily trying to support. Think of it like this... ✈️ when the flight attendant is giving her safety speech before take-off, what does she say to do in case of emergency?🚨 👩‍✈️....to get YOUR own oxygen mask on BEFORE trying to help others.

Self-care rituals should have an important place in your week.✨✨Self-care is a way of attending to the foundations of your very being and helps you to keep yourself strong.✨✨Self-care means something different for every single person.

To ME, self-care means being honest with myself, knowing when to say no, seeking out solutions to my stresses rather than avoiding them...
It means making space for my #dailyrituals and keeping to my positive ‘habits’. ⚡️⚡️It also means creating new habits to get myself back on track if I feel the wheels beginning to spin off.
It means that I make sure to prioritise ‘me-time’... to take some ‘time-out’, to do some calming #meditation 🙇🏻‍♀️, spend time with my family, or to bundle up with a stack of research papers and have some uninterrupted ‘nerd-out’ time.📑🤓
It is about having a positive mindset, getting enough SLEEP💤, moving my body, taking CARE of my physical and mental health.. 🥦🥑🍠it’s also about eating WELL to support the natural cycles of my body and my overall #health and #harmony .

Just about to start a 12 week photo shoot prep with @kg_fitnesspt and her team. The only one I will ever do! My plan is to not lose any significant weight - slightly weird! Despite my advice to my clients about having #balance in life, I find it incredibly hard to live by my own advice. I’m such an #allornothing woman. So the next 12 weeks will be about #nurturing myself, feeding myself well and fuelling for the gym. My energy levels are pretty chronic with kids, work and home responsibilities so I would like to try and address that, too. But first a holiday with family. 1.  Ich kann nur im oder am Wasser Bücher lesen. Das heisst ich lese wenn ich in der Badewanne liege oder am Pool/Meer bin. Dann auch nur Krimis und Thriller, alles andere ist mir zu langweilig. 🏝
2.  Ich  liebe Katzen und Hunde gleichermassen weil ich mit beiden aufgewachsen bin. Aber wir haben leider keine Haustiere.😢
3.  Ich mag kein Schweinefleisch nur Rohschinken und Schinkegipfeli #yummyinmytummy
4.  Seit knapp 7 Jahren arbeite ich für dieselbe Firma und wurde nur einmal befördert, jedoch steht bald die nächste vor der Tür.
5.  Obwohl ich in Stadt wohne, haben wir Bauerhöfe in der nähe, somit haben wir von beidem das Schlechte: Den Gestank und der Verkehr.
6.  Ich habe zu allem sofort eine emotionale Bindung. Deswegen Kaufe ich keinen Modeschmuck mehr 😂

I would argue especially your proteins, since they’re the ones keeping your blood sugar stable the longest, in turn stabilizing every other mechanism in your body and keeping your brain fueled - and happy.

Maybe not so much bacon, but protein none the less. 
Stabilizing your protein intake is the first step in finding balance because once your body has proper fuel, you’ll know what’s left over that needs your attention. You really can’t tell what anything in your body is actually doing on its own without stability first. Kinda like the roof over your home; your paint could be beautiful but if it rains and there’s holes in your roof, it will damage everything inside. A stable foundation protects everything inside.

Well friends... we said goodbye to our lakeshore home/ friends. Rescued 5 baby squirrels on our new front lawn an hour after arriving to Tecumseh and we’re starting to feel settled in. So thankful for everyone who has chipped in along the way. 💕

While browsing the grocery store today I saw some fall scented candles and the nostalgic part of me went “oh I need those!” Then I remembered why I don’t. I fully decided to commit to this lifestyle after facing some cold hard facts of what I had inflicted on myself with unhealthy/toxic habits. This is my “why” and something I’m not yet comfortable sharing but will when the time feels right. Remembering why I decided to get toxins out of my house and focus on my health (physical and emotional) grounded me again and made me realize that while the hype is fun the consequences are not. For many years I was fixated on opening my third eye while sitting in meditation.
.
Receiving messages from the Divine.
.
But I never really placed value on being in my body, and breathing into my lower chakras closest to Earth.
.
Because the energy here felt dense, my root stored fear around finances, my pelvis held shame around my sexuality and around my belly not being “fit enough.”
.
Yet, I was high on creativity- spacey, you could call it... or “Vata” in Ayurvedic terms... with lots happening in ideas but not all manifesting into grounded reality.
.
It was overwhelming, and frustrating to not be able to implement all the magick potential I saw and received in my meditations.
.
It felt like I was wasting energy.
.
And I felt extremely disconnected from my body- which resulted in emotional eating, then feeling bloated, heavy, and overwhelmed.
.
Ever been here?
.
It wasn’t until I started breathing into my lower chakras, moving the energy stored here, embodying my inner sensual goddess and loving my curves... that my relationship with food changed from coping to nurturing.
.
And I grew and energetic container in which could actually hold the energy of my ideas- and I could complete my thoughts by grounding them into my waking reality.

Say hello to my little friend...and oxytocin! Got cortisol problems? Bump that oxytocin!

Now, my oxytocin bumping method of choice is orgasms because THEY ARE ORGASMS!🙄 I know my friend @sexwithemily is with me on this one!

But there’s more than one way to bump that big O. Not that O. The oxytocin O!

Are you a breakfast eater?  Or dare I ask are you a “healthy” breakfast eater?  The foods that you choose in the morning have a huge impact on keeping your blood sugar stable and hormones.

Whether you choose breakfast foods that are high in protein and good fat or if you choose a breakfast with more refined carbohydrates sets the tone for your blood sugar levels for the day which can affect how well your body manages hormone balance.

And if your blood sugar levels are spiking and crashing all day long, this could be the reason for those cravings you get throughout the day.

Maybe you think I’m a little nutty - I mean what does the fact that I had a bagel for breakfast have to do with whether or not I have cravings later in the morning?

Sticking to foods that are mostly protein and good fat before 12 p.m. is your secret weapon.
‍
Nuts and seeds contain protein, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and fiber.  Nuts and/or seeds would make a great contribution to breakfast. Add some colorful berries which are low in sugar and high in fiber too.
‍
You won't be fooled by “candied” nuts, sweetened nut/seed butters, or chia “cereals” with added sugars – you know I'm talking about the real, whole, unsweetened food here.
‍
Nuts and seeds are also the ultimate fast food if you're running late in the mornings.  Grab a small handful of almonds, walnuts, or pumpkin seeds as you're running out the door; you can munch on them while you're commuting.
‍
Not to mention how easy it is to add spoonful of nut/seed butter into your morning breakfast smoothie.

Hint: If you like a creamy latte in the mornings try making one with nut or seed butter.  Just add your regular hot tea and a tablespoon or two of a creamy nut or seed butter into your blender & blend until frothy.

Let’s talk about The Pill! 💊
Nowadays, prescriptions for hormonal contraception are seen as a right of passage for girls stepping into their womanhood. The pill was revolutionary in helping women reclaim their sexual liberation, regain choice and assert independence with their bodies. 💪🏼
In exchange for this however, we were asked to give up our natural cyclical rhythm ♻️. ••
The pill is a band aid approach to symptoms and does not address or treat the underlying cause for pain, menstrual cramping, PCOS, endometriosis and adenomyosis, to name a few. Taking the pill is wrought with risks - most of which our naive teenage selves are oblivious to when we receive our first prescription 🤯. The pill completely ‘switches off’ our natural hormone regulation, and we don’t experience a real period - the bleeds we have are withdrawals to the synthetic, steroid hormones that mask our cycle.

🤯Do you work out regularly/consistently AND progress in your workouts (i.e., get stronger, lift more, more endurance, etc), eat really clean, nutrient-dense foods, create a calorie deficit, maybe even track macros...YET NOTHING CHANGES? 🥴Like, nothing...the scale doesn’t budge (even though that’s not the best measure of progress), your clothes aren’t fitting you better/differently 👖👗, you’re not seeing any changes in body composition 💪🏻🦵🏻...

Our hormones rule the roost, basically. You can be doing everything RIGHT but if you have hormonal imbalances, they will fight to keep your body in some form of homeostasis & say f*ck your aesthetic goals! 🤬

🧬Our hormonal system is a very intricate & delicate system. When one thing gets thrown off, the rest usually do too. Things like chronic stress will affect cortisol, which will then affect other hormones. Low thyroid function will affect your estrogen, which will then affect your testosterone, then progesterone, taking hormonal birth control will cause your sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) to skyrocket, which will cause estrogen dominance & low testosterone & then you’re in this cyclical cluster fuck spinning your wheels, changing your diet, trying a new workout, cutting out gluten, dairy, doing intermittent fasting & grasping at straws. 😫😣😱🤐 Sound like you?
