📖Plenty of evidence supports the use of resistance training 🦵🏼and plyometrics will improve middle/long distance race times.

This improves running economy, which is the ability to sustain a level of performance for a specified distance or time.

The paper I have attached I read recently confirms this dogma. I have summarised the research paper authors with these key points:
⚫️⬆️rate of motor units activation ⚫️Running, strength and high velocity training emphasises neuromuscular characteristics related to voluntary and reflex neural activation, muscle force, elasticity and running mechanics.
⚫️influences from the muscle power factor are related to anaerobic characteristics.
⚫️it is important to maintain high velocities over the course of the race as there will be times that exceed max aerobic power (ie long hills). ⚫️Training must utilise various jumping, and sprinting. This involves high contraction velocities and reaction forces to ⬆️ performance which use the stretch shortening cycle (sprinting).
⚫️The energy cost of running is related directly to stiffness of the propulsive leg.
⚫️5% decrease in energy cost = 3.8% improvement in race time.
⚫️🏋🏼‍♀️ training improves neuromuscular characteristics transferred into improved muscle power and running economy.

Two of the most common comments I recieved. Depending on when a person has entered my life they will have a different view. .

The reality is, even though I did lose a lot of weight; I have gained far more than j could have dreamed. 
No I have no been fit my whole life. I've was very active until I was about 13. Then I just stopped. .

My whole experience of life, standard and expectations I know hold for myself and where I want to be in life have altered. 
I had very little to no self worth in my late teens and 20's. I always figured if I hadn't met someone in school if be alone forver. Or that I'd never have enough skill or talent to have a career or job that challenged. .

I was so wrong. So very wrong. When I finally put more worth and effort into myself a whole new world opened up for me. 
I take pride in my new strength and determination. 
I cherish my kids for challenging me to better each day. 
And I value and respect the love @tuckeredknightnelson shows me every single day. .

It wasn't easy. It wasn't fast. I cried, I stumbled, but I always got back up.

Just before finishing up I come across ‘lombards paradox’ on a podcast and then searching Greg Knuckols article had it further clarified.
—
Well, as clarified as you can be on a subject holding more plot twist than season 2 of ‘Lost’.
—
So the assumption would justifiably be that with there being a larger moment arm presented to the hip extensors than the knee extensors in a low bar vs a high bar position, the hips should produce more force (be worked more)
—
However under Lombards paradox where hip extension torque can transfer to knee extension torque via the Rectus Femoris (quad) and the Hamstring can transfer knee extension torque to the hips. Making one dominant is a challenge.
—
If one group has a higher demand placed on them (hip extensors) the ones with a lower demand (knee extensors) will come in to help out via transfer of force.
—
Finding a comfy bar placement for you and bias’ing your invidual mechanics to find your squat position, if you wish to squat, will probably serve you best.
—

However under Lombards paradox where hip extension torque can transfer to knee extension torque via the Rectus Femoris (quad) and the Hamstring can transfer knee extension torque to the hips. Making one dominant is a challenge.

If one group has a higher demand placed on them (hip extensors) the ones with a lower demand (knee extensors) will come in to help out via transfer of force.

Finding a comfy bar placement for you and bias’ing your invidual mechanics to find your squat position, if you wish to squat, will probably serve you best.

Oh 👋🏻 everyone! Been awhile but yes I’m still here. Just been finally working on my 👙bod, just in time for 🍁🍂! 😮🤷🏻‍♀️ kinda kidding kinda serious! I’ve been dealing with some pain in my 🍑(literally) and in my elbow which makes lifting pretty damn difficult! Fun Bally took the time and scheduled a massage with @thefasciawhisperer and OH MY GOODNESS he is Ahhhmazing at his skill! The pain’s not entirely gone, but I’m at least able to deadlift with lower weights again and sit for more than 10 minutes without annoying pain in my glutes and legs! The constant resistance at varying intensities throughout the full range of the movement is a great way to prime the muscles being used and get them ready to add weight to the bar.
