Them: I'm frustrated with my progress.
Me: No worries, let's figure it out. What are your goals?
Them: I want to lose bodyfat. Lots of it.
Me: So are you regularly creating an energy deficit?
Them: Not sure what you mean. Right now I'm following an LCHF diet. ****There's our first problem. Need them to understand the basics of energy balance.**** Me: I thought you were wanting to lose a bunch of bodyfat.
Them: I do.
Me: Have you ever tried dropping the HF and switching to YF?
Me: Or maybe just start with SF?
Them: Now I'm confused. Never heard of YF or SF.
Me: Not surprising. It's not mentioned much in the LCHF circles. ****I know he's confused but the lightbulb is about to come on!**** Me: Didn't you tell me you wanted to lose YOUR fat? ****I stressed "your" to see if he would catch on.**** Them: Yeah.
Me: So why don't you start with "SOME" fat? ****After I stressed "some" He began to smile!**** Them: Aha...Now I get it. Low Carb Some Fat! Never thought of it that way. So what is LCYF?
Me: Low Carb "Your" Fat (as I grin). Them: Ha. Ok...So what should I do?
Me: Try...Low Carb - High Fat + Some Fat + Your Fat + Additional Protein + More Fiber.
