20.8.19 ( my #ootd of 10.8.19)
PLEASE SWIPE AND SEE ALL THE PICS.
A saree post after a long time as the resort where we stayed during our recent #familyvacation had zero mobile network and pathetic wifi making it impossible to upload a large number of pending posts.
On 10.8.19, prior to my flight to Bangalore,I attended a lunch party of saree sisters belonging to “Be ethnic Be beautiful “where I was honoured to be invited to be the chief guest. It was a pleasure to meet many old friends and connect with new ones.Sumbul Yazdani had organised it very well.I witnessed some awesome performances by very talented women. I delivered a brief extempore talk and sang 2 songs, one of which was a Bengali song, Robindro shongeet, on demand by few members from Kolkata. Thereafter I was requested to sing “ aaj jaane ki zid na karo”. I will be posting the videos too.I was overwhelmed by the immense love I received from the entire group.
I was given a beautiful taant saree from Tina Das Gupta and #jewellery created by @Jyoti Kapoor as #giftsoflove .
Given the humid weather, my #ootd was an onion pink #Benarasi #georgette which my bestie Minakshi Bahadur, picked up from Bangalore about 17 years ago. #irepeatmysarees and incidentally the last time I wore it on 20.8.17, exactly 2 years from today. She has great taste so I had asked her to pick up 2 sarees for me.This has woven golden zari creepers with #floralmotifs all over,a thin golden zari woven border which has the creeper & flowers in smaller size and pallu with wide zari stripes.I paired it with its own blouse in 2017 & 2019.
My #handcraftedbindi is inspired by the #floralmotifs and created using poster colour.
#jewellery is #templejewellery from the south of India with #imitationjewellery bangles with fuschia stones, akin to pink rubies.
My #potli is beige, brown and gold with woven #chevrons all over. The drawstrings end in large beads.
