Finally, “Steppin’ Out” of my comfort zone this time by ACTUALLY coming @steppinoutdanceworkshop . If I’m honest, I never thought I would actually do this one day. But a sudden rush of strange energy made me tel myself, “I’m going to do it this time.” Then, the spontaneous decision was made. And here I am. Tiny, clueless and full of anxiety coming to a place far from home away from my close friends and family because I want to learn more about DANCE.
I tried exploring new dance styles like KRUMP, contemporary flow, hip hop and dance theatre. And I learned so much. Really went out of my comfort zone. 🌚🔫 I was a nervous mess during all the classes. But I was hoping no one can tell. HAHAHA. And, OMFG whenever the instructor said “you just FREESTYLE here” OR “Just feel yourself.” I’d be like FFFFFFFFF!!! Who am I? What is myself? WTF existential crisis. 🥴 But after all this, even though I wasn’t comfortable, I tried my best to express myself openly (it was done but probably not well HAHAH). And I THINK I feel a little better about just grooving along with the music without having to worry about the choreography and all that. I’m still scared. BUT, yeah. Baby steps. 🍼 i
KK is amazing. The people here are amazing. People from other parts of East Malaysia are amazing! But I don’t think met anyone from west Malaysia. 🤔Everyone was super friendly and nice. In fact (not surprisingly), I’m the one that’s all unfriendly and cold. 🤦🏻♀️ I’m sorry y’all. It’s hard to talk to people when you constantly imagine 1000 ways the conversation could go horribly wrong. 🥴Nonetheless, I made some new friends both dancers and (to my pleasure) even some non-dancers. HAHA! Because of them, my trip to KK wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. I thought I’ll just be alone and sad and all that. Thanks so much to everyone I met there.
Thanks so much to all the instructors who may or may not see this ever. Idkzzz.
Thanks so much to Nelson for organising this.
And finally, thanks so much to @bratcher_mark for being so supportive and letting me do this even though you were shaking when I went to the airport HAHA
