Mental clarity, calm breathing and grounded footing. I personally find these are essential for closed kinetic chain workouts. Have these 3 sorted and your performance will be more intentional.

I’m a big fan of unilateral exercises because of the emphasis on core stabilization and balance to support an imbalanced load. And I find unilateral training to be a very effective means of increasing awareness of and addressing muscular & movement pattern imbalances.💯

I’ve put together some simple workouts I do with my son. He is 10. 
He has been training with me for as long as he can remember.  He has no fear & loves to be strong. He knows his body well & trusts his strength. 
He also understands the need to be safe & cautious to prevent injury. 
I’ve trained athletes, young & older. Simple, effective workouts to engage both sides of the brain. 
2 legs/ arms- 2 hemispheres of the brain working in unison.
Helping young kids workout has been a specialty of mine for a long time.  Make it fun.  Make it rewarding & safe. As well as Challenging them to have no limits to how fast or how strong they want to be. 
Strength is not only in the body. 
Strength is built in the mind. 
Strength is what kids struggle with a lot in today’s society.

Explosive leg work using a suspension setup in the power rack.

This is a fantastic way to do CAT (Compensatory Acceleration Training). If you're not familiar with the concept, it was originated by the late Dr. Squat, Fred Hatfield.
.
Basically, you accelerate the weight into the top position as the leverage gets better in order to compensate for that improved leverage...powering all the way up and through to the top without letting up, in other words.
.
The reason this setup works so well for it is that because of the arc of the bar that straps give you, the weight feels lighter at the bottom and gets much heavier towards the top, similar to using bands for added resistance but with actual load on the bar, which I like better.
.
I've got a pair of Blast Straps from @elitefts looped around the bar set on the J hooks.  The other end of the straps are looped around the bar I'm working with.  These straps are designed and tested for very heavy loads so I have no worries about them giving out.
.
I'm using a staggered stance for these...a split squat would be the closest analog.  I find the staggered stance better than a regular squat pattern here because the path of the bar move up and away. If you do a regular squat, you have to lean forward too much, which is awkward.
.
The staggered foot position allows you to transition and transfer the loading from the back leg to the front leg with no balance issues.
.
This is excellent explosive acceleration and power training for the lower body because of how you can use CAT for it.

Simple but highly effective leg exercise. Hands down my favourite. It will hammer your quads and glutes, build unilateral function and strength, save your lower back and recruit a ton of stabilizer muscles in the process. Including this in your leg day routine will help to improve other lifts by re-establishing function and effective movement patterns. I always start off on my weaker side and make sure I match the rep range on my strong side to prevent creating any imbalances. Form over weight always. Clip above I am giant setting this with some weighted walking lunges + BW lunges to failure (3 sets total). Really effective leg day finisher after a taxing lower body sesh. Give it a bash✌️

Ohne Witz, einer der grsusamstensten Übungen.

Leider ist diese Übung einfach gut und sehr effektiv. Deswegen steht sie auch zu recht gerade in der Hypertrophy Phase auf dem Plan und wird gemacht.

The way I train my body has evolved throughout the years. From being a competitive athlete, to rehabbing injuries, to where I’m currently at. Now a days my training involves keeping up with old injuries so they stay away, and strengthening my body for the demands I put it under while hiking and biking among other activities. Almost everything I do for legs is unilateral (one side at a time). Here are a few of the exercises I do and I’ll explain why. There’s always gotta be a why, right?

Deficit reverse lunges (sped up x2). When I’m hiking, more often than not I’m carrying a backpack and take big high steps to get over boulders or step up on a platform. Ascending or descending I’ve got to make sure each leg can support my weight. I’m staying as light as possible on the floating leg which in turn makes the leg on the platform work so hard 🥵

Split squats (sped up x6). The third video shows weighed split squats. I’m only using the stick for balance. I’ve got other exercises for balance so for this one I don’t want to be struggling to stay upright. The stick takes care of the balance issue so I can focus on strength through a wiiiide range of motion. You have got to be strong in every position that is available to you, if not your chances for injury will increase. Check out that knee going over that toe 🙊

Spine mobility (sped up x6). Last video shows me going through several exercises to flex and extend my spine. Some movements with weight and some without. The goal is segmentation, working on moving each individual vertebrae as slow and controlled as possible. Waaaaay harder than it looks and it requires so much concentration. Why these? To decompress the spine after lifting. To maintain your back mobile and strong which in turn keeps you healthy and active. Because I love my body and want to take care of it.
