Day 21: Trail run and some boxing training.
Today was a rough day for me. Tomorrow marks 6 months since my grandma passed away and I miss her so much!!!! I went on a trail run alone to free my mind. On my way there I stopped by her grave to place flowers from one of my rose bushes she loved. It hit me hard and I couldn’t control the tears. She was someone who shaped the woman I am today. I miss talking with her and the daily check-ins I would do to ensure she was taken care of. We used to talk about the Bible and life in general. Ironically with this weighing so heavily on my heart today my brother sent me a text thinking about her as well and then her cousin who was very close to her growing up in Panama, Prima Aris, called me this evening ❤️ God knew I needed to hear her voice. Someone who was very close to her all her life gave me comfort. Like I said in my post a few hours ago, stretching isn’t always the fix! Give these Dumbbell RDLs a try, they are awesome and your legs will feel great the next day too 😉

Here’s how
🔶 start lighter than you’d expect (build as you get better)
🔶 hold a dumbbell in each hand standing tall with your chest out and shoulders back/down
🔶 maintaining your natural lower back curve, push your butt/hips directly behind you
🔶 hinge (bend) at the waist without letting your lower back arch
🔶 keep your chest out
🔶 let the weight lower STRAIGHT down, close to your body
🔶 drive your hips towards the wall in front of you and squeeze your butt back at the top
🔶 repeat

Pay attention to your tempo! When your hamstrings are feeling the 🔥 you’re probably doing it right.

A couple of videos of the "boring stuff." There were points in last week's training that signaled that it was time for a break. 600's have become a weekly routine, which is a real confidence booster for my personal goals, even more having gotten as light as 89kg/197lbs. Having gotten stronger on a recomp has been exciting, but it isn't substainable at this point. A 6'2" 93kg/205lb lifter makes hardly any sense as it is, there's little to no point training nearly 10lbs under the weight limit for that class.

It's still completely pointless to stay stagnant for the sake of "balancing" my calories to put on weight, so today's training was absolutely necessary.

A moderate refeed is in order for the rest of the Nats prep, and maybe, just maybe by October, these recent lifts in training become... openers 🤔??
