Had an axle deadlift session with @coco_strongman this morning ahead of commencing my 8 weeks of Static Monsters prep (yep! looks like I’m taking the leap and aiming to compete in just about 10 weeks 😅)

Coco taught me the technique for this lift and worked me up to a double at 110kg / 242lbs.

I can’t wait to see where I am with this implement in a couple of months. Finally starting to feel like a real strongwoman now 😁

As a doctor, I do take tiny little things in workouts as a serious matter. 
Like what, you may ask.
Balancing and stability, coordination, mobility & flexibility and such. 
Workouts are not only for building up muscles and gaining strength but also knowing what your body can do more than you could think of. 🤔

Balancing. 
Our eyes, muscles, joints, brain and the vestibular system (in the inner ear) connects to each other to maintain it.
Cerebellum, located at the back of our brain, is a crucial part that controls movement, coordination and balance.
Hence, we must know how to use them by practising it. 😎
.
Besides non/with weight single leg Romanian deadlift for stability, I usually test my clients with treadmill drills first.
From a normal forward run, they have to turn for sideways run and also reverse run in within the time given.
That's a combination of understanding and receiving the command and using your mind and body to move as ordered. 👍
.
A slow speed and no incline is advisable at first. Then, gradually increase both of that as it's another way to actually strengthen our ankle & knee when we're in an unstable plane like in a trail run. 👣

Surgery can very traumatic exeperience.  Often we do not know what to think, feel or do after surgery.  This can lead to feeling stressed and overwhelmed.  This can actually impede healing (see below)! So do your self a favour go visit your local ACL physiotherapist preferably before your operation to get some good education on expectations for the post op period to prepare your mind and body for the journey ahead.

High stress levels are, for example, associated with physiological stress responses. These stress responses can, in turn, retard the inflammatory phase and increase the risk of infection.

GOT GRIP!?.

I incorporate grip strength workouts when i found out my forearms gave out trying to get a hold of 130lb db for a chest press pr. My arms gave out first before i could even press. .
From that day on i worked on grip/forearms, Excercises like kettlebell farmer walks made a huge difference, and the burn feels soo good. And pretty much you can test your strength hauling grocery bags home right after😂.

And also great for deadlifts! Never used wriststraps for assistance, 🐻🤲. Give em a try💪.

Testing my low bar on Friday night. Attempted a few more reps and I didn’t like it to begin with.

Hand placement was crap, too fast on the descent (no control).... too much crap and just rushing reps! No no! Sooooooooo tonight I slowed it way down and found my grove to hit a 455 (91%) low bar squat! Followed by 385 for 3 sets of 7 reps low bar. Tonight was by far one of the best nights I’ve had squatting in weeks. Looking forward to 500+. ✅
