5 things I’m doing to improve my days! 📝❤️
-
1️⃣ Showing gratitude - every morning when I wake up I have been trying to write down or think about 5 things I am thankful for.

2️⃣ Eat a good breakfast - I find when I start my day off with eating a good healthy breakfast I have more energy and feel better throughout my day.

3️⃣ Spending a part of the day working on myself - The gym is a place where I can go in and forget all the negativity and just focus on me.
.
4️⃣ Plan and set goals for my day - I like writing out a schedule of things I have and want to get done. If I write it down it’s more likely I will stick to it.
.
5️⃣ Keeping things clean - Nothing feels better then staying on top of my cleaning, and laundry or even simply making my bed in the morning.

These are things that I have been wanting and trying to make more of a habit in my daily routine. I have not been as consistent with all of them as I would like to be lately but when I do them I feel such a difference in my productivity levels, mood, and overall just helps me have a much better day! 🙌🏼

CHANGING FORM 101⚡️⚡️

I hope that by seeing my IG that you realize that it is 1. TOTALLY possible to better your form, and 2. Changing your form speeds you up! I used to think you were stuck with what you did naturally. NOT TRUE. If you want to get faster, less injury prone, & make your running feel easier & more efficient- there is NO better time to start working on form!
.
Form is the BASE we need to work with so that we can grow from there & improve & get faster. You have to grow into your goals- & part of that is being willing to challenge & change things in order to become the person that can accomplish your goals.
.
A couple things:
.
⚡️Changing form WILL feel awkward at first. If it feels awkward- GREAT- you’re doing it right! Ha.
.
⚡️You MAY be sore when you’re changing your form. Again, normal. You’re using muscles in different way than before. For me, the front of my hips were weirdly sore when I really focused on high cadence.
.
⚡️My favorite days to work on form specifically are EZ runs and long runs (where pace isn’t a focus) - the more I focus on form on EZ days- the more it translates to feeling natural on speed days.
.
⚡️Pick one thing at a time to improve. I had a laundry list of things that could be improved. But focusing on all of them at once will have you throwing in the towel, totally overwhelmed. You will get further by taking small consistent steps than by trying to change everything at once.
.
⚡️Be patient with yourself. It doesn’t happen overnight. It can be frustrating. But I PROMISE with consistent efforts you will begin to transform your form.
.
⚡️Improving form isn’t just for elite runners. When I started running, I never heard anyone talk about improving form. @tunderface was the first person in the running community that told me 1. That my form was horrible, & 2. That I could fix it. HAHA.

By improving your form you are turning yourself into a more efficient, smooth machine. Let’s get our form looking more like an elite & less like a drunk skunk!

#RealTalk Looking at this photo, you wouldn’t think that I’m at the heaviest weight I have ever been. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE ANGLES BABY 👏🏼👏🏼 The past two months have been crazy busy. From designing my newly built home, moving in with my momma, going on vacation, selling my house, to back to back business trips. I’ve eaten out probably 90% of my meals during this time period. Sure I could have made healthier food choices while eating out but let’s be real, that’s no fun. I’m slowing getting back to my routines but it’s hard. I don’t want to put in the effort most days. I’m not happy with myself but time to start fresh. I have a goal to meet by February so I’m going to put in the work and try my damn hardest to achieve it.

A nice friendly challenge this week. Just 1k. Go fast.

Today my Crohn’s disease didn’t want me to workout - but you know what? Fuck Crohn’s disease!

After struggling with severe fatigue today and a momentary lapse in judgment in which I drank some orange juice, my heartburn was at an all time high and I just wanted to go to bed at like 2pm .
.
.
But I didn’t, because this is my life and I’ve decided that nothing gets between me and my commitment to 100 workouts in 100 days - not even a little chronic autoimmune disorder .
.
.
Because real talk, if I waited until I felt like working out I’d probably never workout. So I just dig deep and get it done ✅ I try to remind myself that I’ve never regretted a workout - that I’m gonna feel amazing afterwards- that I’m getting mentally and physically stronger with each day. I also do it because I know there will be a day when I’m so sick from Crohn’s that I medically I won’t be able to workout and I want to be as strong as possible for when that day comes

I do a bit of both.⠀

I try to workout every day, I walk as much as possible, I sleep more than I do at home, and I make sure to eat a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack, but when dinner rolls around, I make a conscious choice to indulge and enjoy. ⠀

And I don’t feel an ounce of guilt about it! ⠀
.⠀
We live such a busy and structured life at home, and I view vacations as a time to reset, recharge, and make memories with the people I love. ⠀
.⠀
I used to be really regimented and go to the gym every single afternoon while we were traveling, but always found myself scheduling our days around my workouts, and inevitably found myself at the gym instead of enjoying time at the pool with my daughter and husband. ⠀
.⠀
I decided to be more purposeful with my time this vacation, and purchased a few cheap dumbbells at @target this morning. I figure I’ll hit the gym on the days we’re lazy and have more time to spare, but the rest of the time, I’m going to find ways to incorporate my workouts into our family time.⠀

SAVE for later & TAG A FRIEND👏🏻

1. Banded 3-Pulse Squats.
⭐️Beginner: 8 reps.
⭐️Advanced: 14-16 reps.
TIP: Stay low in the pulses, keep your weight at your heels, and SQUEEZE that bum on your way up.☝🏻
2. Banded Kneeling Jump Squats.
⭐️Beginner: 4 reps each side. ⭐️Advanced: 10 reps each side.
TIP: Stay low in a squat as you kneel down & explode up into your jump squat. EXHALE as you explode up.
3. Banded Squat Side Taps
⭐️Beginner: 10-12 reps each side. ⭐️Advanced: 20 reps each side.
TIP: Keep it low in your squat the WHOLE time & focus on your breathing.
DON’T👏🏻HOLD👏🏻YOUR👏🏻BREATH.
4. Banded In & Out Jump Squats.
⭐️Beginner: 12 reps. ⭐️Advanced: 20 reps.
TIP: Nice & low in that squat with your weight at your heels. Keep your chest lifted & don’t round the spine.

Por que é que eu nunca falho um treino? A genética não foi fixe comigo, tive de ser eu a tratar do assunto 🍑😂😂 Não foi, amigas, que na primeira foto já eu treinava há uns dois anos. Portanto deixem de ser mariquinhas, saltem já dessa elíptica e vão pegar em peso sff! Eu sei que custa entrar pela primeira vez "naquela" zona do ginásio. We made it to Friday 💃🏻 my week was somewhat productive—I got in 3 gym sessions, 7 runs, and stretched almost every day (which is usually the thing I skip when I’m in a rush) 🙌🏼 I just have my long run tomorrow morning to cap off another successful week 🤗 I’ve got 2 weeks until I leave for vacation, and then the REAL training starts—more miles, harder workouts, and better nutrition & recovery habits! I’ll have almost 5 months until @themiamimarathon so that’s plenty of time to prep 👍🏼 it will be 2 years since I’ve set a PR and I’m itching for that sub-3, so this is a big goal for me! We made it to Friday 💃🏻 my week was somewhat productive—I got in 3 gym sessions, 7 runs, and stretched almost every day (which is usually the thing I skip when I’m in a rush) 🙌🏼 I just have my long run tomorrow morning to cap off another successful week 🤗 I’ve got 2 weeks until I leave for vacation, and then the REAL training starts—more miles, harder workouts, and better nutrition & recovery habits! Anyone else’s motivation been lacking lately?? I feel like I’ve had to make myself get up and go to the gym the last two weeks!

My motivation isn’t always there, sometimes I have to force myself to get out of bed and go to the gym. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I can honestly say though, when I do this I feel so much better after a workout!

Do you have a stretching routine? Stretching has always been a part of my life since my dancing days but in the past few years, stretching has been rushed and pushed to the back burner. I don’t prioritize it anymore and I’m noticing the effects because my body just doesn’t feel as good as it used to (is that just getting older??) I’ve been trying to slowly incorporate a better stretching routine. Nothing crazy just some lateral stretches in the morning to wake me up and maybe about 15 minutes of stretching post workout. I have been lazy with yoga which usually gives me the best stretch so this is what’s best for ME right now. I could be doing more but for now, this is good.

I always have this all or noting mindset and best myself up when I can’t give something my all but I’m slowly accepting that something is better than nothing and making lifestyle changes is sometimes easier done through baby steps.

I prayed for these girls. Before I was even into faith, or spirituality- I prayed for a girl gang.

I wanted to belong, finally. My first year of college I was so isolated- I moved out with Jocelyne, went to a school without my friends, and found myself so so alone. I talked to my dad about paying the thousands of dollars it cost to join a sorority, not because I was into Greek life but because I literally wanted to BUY my friends.

I’ve always been the one who’s scared that the second I walk away- the group is talking about me. I’ve always been the one who “kinda fits in but not really”. Until now. Until I found this girl gang. The girls that freaking lift me higher than I could everrr lift myself. The babes who will wake up at 5am to sweat with me on FaceTime and also go ham on the margaritas when we’re in town together. THIS is the kind of love and friendship I so desperately needed- and it started because I made the decision to become a coach and jump into a community I knew nothing about. Turns out it was probably one of my greatest life’s decisions.
